Privacy Policy

Nemont Telephone Cooperative, Inc. ("Nemont," "We," "Our," "Us") is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of our customers. We strive to maintain high standards for protecting privacy over the Internet. We recognize that the growth of online services, including Internet services, has created additional privacy concerns, particularly for customers.

Online privacy concerns focus primarily on protecting "customer identifiable" information that an individual or other customer reasonably expects to be kept private. As the term suggests, "customer identifiable" information identifies an individual when associated with an individual, such as a customer's name, address, telephone number, and email address. In short, privacy is important to us.

This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the Website https://www.nemont.com/ (our "Website") and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

The personal information we obtain about you on our Website is information you voluntarily supply. This means you can visit our Website without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. However, we may collect personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, postal address) through our Website. In certain situations, such as when you register for online billing, we will collect billing information, such as your credit card number and billing address, and we may share this information with our third-party contractors (such as your credit card company solely to process the transaction you have requested). You may choose to provide us with your individual information in the following ways:

  • Requesting a product or service from us;
  • Sending us an email;
  • Applying for a job; or
  • Entering a contest.

Additionally, to gauge the effectiveness of our Website, we collect some generic information about you. Our web servers automatically recognize your domain name (such as .com, .edu, etc.), the point of entry from which you entered our site, including web pages, newsletters, and forms, which pages you visit on our Website, and how much time you spend on each page. This information is not linked to any personally identifiable information about you.

HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS USED

When you supply information about yourself for a specific purpose, we use the information for that purpose (such as to provide you with the information you requested or to consider you for a particular job). When you use our Website to request information about products and services, we may use your individual information, for example, to evaluate your service needs and contact you regarding additional services you may find useful. You have the right to choose not to receive this information by notifying us of your preference.

CONFIDENTIALITY OF YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell your individual information obtained online. We will not disclose the individual information provided to us online to anyone outside of Nemont unless:

  •  You specifically authorize it (by using online bill payment; for example, you authorize us to provide information regarding the payment to your credit card company);
  • It is required by law; or
  • Disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of customers, employees, or property. Examples of disclosures permitted by law include the following:
    • To government, regulatory, and legal authorities in response to a subpoena, to prevent fraud, and to comply with an inquiry by a government agency.
    • To credit reporting and/or collection agencies when necessary.

EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS

We do not send unsolicited "junk" emails (spam). We may use email to communicate with you, respond to your emails, confirm service requests, and send information that you requested. If you receive an unwanted email from us, you can simply reply to ask not to receive future emails.

SECURITY

We use Secure Socket Layer technology with encryption to transmit sensitive data such as credit card information and Social Security Numbers.

We are committed to safeguarding customer privacy on our Website. We employ the following security measures to safeguard your transactions with us:

  • We maintain and protect the security of our servers and your personal information.
  • We establish appropriate physical, electronic, and management safeguards to secure the information collected online, prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure only appropriate use of information.
  • We require usernames and passwords to access sensitive data.
